CELV1: Context of Character Education examines the history and background of character education along with the various philosophical and historical foundations that have influenced the development of character education over time. Topics will include the history of character education, goals of character education, character education theory, frameworks and models of character education, cultural differences in character education, and religion in character education.  Examining cultural differences in character education sheds light on its alignment with inclusivity, equity, and interculturalism. Additionally, the ultimate goals of character education highlight why it is critical as an element of education. Finally, a connection between religion and character education throughout history guides in understanding the concept.
