This professional development session focuses on systematic instruction for K–5 literacy, including how a clear scope and sequence supports sequential skill development. The facilitator will define and model cumulative instruction and explain its role in strengthening retention and transfer with a focus on students who struggle to read. The session also highlights scaffolding as an essential support, with practical examples that demonstrate how to adjust modeling, prompts, and practice to meet learners’ needs while maintaining instructional rigor.
