RDG-02f: Describing Struggling Readers (Part B)
$75

This session offers an opportunity for participants to gain an understanding of dyslexia, grounded in definitions from the Arizona Department of Education and the International Dyslexia Association. The facilitator will discuss how brain structure and function differ in students with dyslexia, how these differences impact reading, and why early, informed intervention matters.

Throughout this session, participants will be provided with the opportunity to understand the prevalence of dyslexia and why all teachers, not just specialists, need to be able to recognize its early warning signs. Through age-specific indicators and real-world K–5 student profiles, the facilitator will identify common struggles and misconceptions, such as guessing at words due to weak decoding skills.

*Participants will receive Three Professional Development Hours completion of this course.
